The 2017 Washington State Trails Coalition Caucus will feature facilitated breakout sessions, updates on state funding efforts, and a sneak peak of our 2018 WSTC Conference planning. The event will feature facilitated breakout sessions, updates on state funding efforts, and a sneak peak of our 2018 WSTC Conference planning. A more detailed agenda is being developed and will be coming closer to the event. Key topics include:

Shared Trails, Shared Advocacy: The caucus will provide a forum to explore how collaboration between trail user groups can create a stronger trail system in Washington. Topics may include collaborative trail planning, trail building and maintenance, user education and advocacy.

Inclusivity and Access: We’ll explore ways that trail organizations and agencies can be more effective by fostering an inclusive trail community, where new generations of trail users are represented and feel welcome. We will also explore solutions to common barriers that prevent many people from enjoying trails, from transit to trailheads to improving our recreation fee systems.

PLUS: The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) staff will provide an overview of its recent state-wide recreation user and provider surveys. Staff will discuss the trails related data and themes that emerged, and show how these informed the agency’s recently adopted Recreation and Conservation, Trails, and Nonhighway Off-Road Vehicles Activities plans.

Part of the proceedings will also be a brief WSTC business meeting to revise bylaws, to share ideas for the future of the Washington State Trails Coalition, and to give sneak peaks into the planning for our 2018 State Trails Conference.

Its time to register for this exciting event – $30 fee will cover registration, morning refreshments and lunch!
